FLEETMASTER EXPRESS CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY

September 27, 2012

Fleetmaster Express, Inc. celebrated 25 years of continued service in the transportation industry on Sept. 12. The company is known for its commitment to safety, excellent customer service, diverse and innovative logistics solutions, and a strong commitment to providing an excellent work place for its employees.

“My father, Bill B. Bumgarner, founded this company when he purchased a small trucking company here in Roanoke in 1987,” said Carl Bumgarner, president and CEO of Fleetmaster Express. “He renamed the company and began to quickly expand the company’s footprint. Since that time revenues have consistently increased year over year making us one of the larger for-hire carriers based in the state of Virginia.”

In its beginning, Fleetmaster Express primarily focused on transporting temperature-controlled bananas on containers for a major national grocery chain. The company later shifted to serving the beverage industry where it has focused on both transportation and storage of inbound materials as well as outbound finished products. After many years of providing quality service to its customers, Fleetmaster Express has earned the reputation as of the most well-regarded transportation companies in the industry.

“Harold Hopper and I teamed up over the past 25 years and built this company with a lot of great help from my father’s experience and reputation in this industry,” said Bumgarner. “Mostly we are grateful to all our employees for their hard work and dedication to making this company what it is today. We hope that we will all be able to celebrate many more anniversaries together with our team. We feel that one of our most important assets we have acquired over this time is our driving force.”

Drivers at Fleetmaster can expect 100 percent no-touch, no haz-mat freight, weekly settlements and quality home time. The company also provides drivers with a bonus incentive plan, holiday and vacation pay, and bonuses for driver referrals and clean D.O.T. inspections. Other benefits include a 401k with weekly company match and an array of medical, life and disability insurance program options.
