Does your truck perform like the star athlete on the team?
Did you ever think that a stock engine would use MORE FUEL that a modified engine, a stack engine works harder, and produces more parts per million on iron particles in the oil which in-turn wears out the engine sooner, and certainly stock engines are NOT as much fun to drive as a modified engine. Think about this, if you are married or going with a Lady that treats you like a King, than you had better treat her like a Queen!
The better she treats you the better you should be treating her. Well it’s the same with your truck, the better your truck runs, the better you will feel towards it and the better you’ll treat it. For 30 years we have been building High Performance Diesel Engines and it’s amazing how long these engines run and how fuel-efficient they are. If you love the way your truck runs, you’ll enjoy driving it that much more and the better care you’ll give it. Think about the star football player in your high school and all of the attention he received, he could do no wrong, after-all the Friday Night Football Games depended on him. Well next to your family your truck is YOUR STAR PLAYER in your life and it makes your family’s life possible.
If you don’t enjoy driving it than its not performing up to your expectations, and you just might not maintain it as well as if it was your STAR PLAYER. Your truck has to be number 1 in your life, after-all it makes your life possible. Its always amazing to me when I see our Owner-Operators years later still with the same truck and over 1 million miles on the odometer and the engine is still running great and how well the truck is maintained. That is because they love how the truck runs, it’s the main thing in a vehicle, how it performs. Take your gas job car or pick up truck and unplug 2 of the spark plug wires and go on a 120-mile trip and see how you feel towards the vehicle. You’ll hate it, regardless of how expensive it is and how beautiful it looks, if it doesn’t perform, its worthless!
It’s the same with your body, if it doesn’t perform its almost useless. Why do people that are out of shape continue to go further out of shape, it’s because of performance. This morning my body just wanted to stay in bed, my Father passed away last week and the funeral this past weekend was draining on my body. My Father was a great guy to me, allowing me to build racing Corvettes and even built a beautiful garage for me to elevate my mechanical talents.
Without his help and understanding I would not have been in the High Performance Diesel Engine Business. I did not want to go to work today, my body was low on power, however I forced it to go to my basement to my workout area and I pumped the biceps and triceps for 45 minutes until they were burned out. Had a protein drink and now I’m full of energy and typing this article high on life. As I drive to work today I’ll be driving a high performance Dodge Cummins Pick up, and it will put a smile on my face, in fact we have 3 Dodge pick ups at the diesel shop and they all are turned up and run great, and I love the feeling I get when I push on the accelerator and watch the turbo boost gauge climb and the truck flies up the hill. It’s what life is all about, loving what you do.
So how about you; do you love what you do? Does your truck perform like the star athlete? Keep in mind the better your truck performs, the better the fuel mileage, and the better care you’ll give your star athlete.
How to make your truck the STAR of the Fleet, first install free flowing mufflers, you must get rid of the exhaust to allow the engine to run free. Our mufflers will give you ? or more mpg improvement and the iron particles in your oil will decrease by getting rid of the backpressure.
Next, install the Pittsburgh Power Performance Computer; it has 7 power settings and on some engines we have 9 power settings and you determine how much power you need to get the job done. This Computer will put a smile on your face and you’ll love to drive your truck with its new performance. The Pittsburgh Power Performance Computer will give you 3/10 mpg or more in fuel mileage savings.
Next install the FASS FUEL SYSTEM, it will remove the air out of diesel fuel and allow the engine to run smoother, pull more consistently and the fuel mileage will improve by 2 to 3 tenths mpg.

Installed on the 2004 BXS Acert Cats the engine vibration goes away.
If you own a DD4 Detroit, we have a turbocharger that is 15% larger than the stock ones and it will also improve the fuel mileage and allow the engine to run more free. Like Dirks Bentley says, Free and easy down the road I go, well if your turbo is too small, your won’t be going Free and Easy down the road, your boot will always be in the throttle and that burns excessive fuel!
Detroits, DD3 and DD4, we have larger injectors for these engines and they will produce about 60 more horsepower and with the added horsepower comes fuel mileage. If your injectors are in need or replacement, go with the larger ones, you’ll be glad you did! Power is everything, and the more you have the better your fuel mileage will be, now keep in mind, you must know how to use the power and when to use it.
Crankshaft Dampers; now here is an item that will save you thousands of dollars, a damper that has 500,000 miles on it is wore out. It no longer can function to protect your crankshaft from torsional twisting and vibrations. Broken crankshafts are a result of wore out crankshaft dampers. By the way, ours are made in the USA, most of the OEM’s are now made in China and India, I have chosen to stay with the USA ones, yes they cost more, however this USA Company is the one who designed it for Cummins, Cat, Mack and Detroit.
Want you engine to be smoother? Than install a Mercury filled crankshaft balancer; this item goes on the crankshaft right behind the damper and will balance the crankshaft, connecting rods, and the pistons. A smoother running engine will pull better, last longer, and you will be able to drive longer without becoming fatigue because of vibrations. Just think of how much longer your truck will last going down the highway with fewer vibrations.
Remember, your truck is your star athlete, treat it as such and all of your efforts will be returned to you in fuel mileage savings, the joy of driving such a great running truck, and the truck and you will have a much longer life!n
