1. The state, quality, or condition of excelling; superiority.
2. Something in which one excels.
3. Excellence Excellency.
Remember the letters of IMAGE DRIVEN stand for I M A Great Example; Demonstrating, Responsibility, Integrity, Value, and now Excellence. The next chapter will cover the N for Nobility to complete the DRIVEN. This affirmation provides us with a map within our mind to guide us to a more positive behavioral image. This is a quote from Napoleon Hill, Author of "Think and Grow Rich." "What ever the mind can conceive and believe in, it can achieve." So if we can conceive in our mind that we can have a positive image, and if we can believe in our ability to follow the guide; then we can achieve the desired outcome of a more positive behavior in our professional and personal lives.
One of those letters is E. E stands for Excellence: the state, quality, or condition of excelling; superiority. Sounds like arrogance to some. To others it sounds like confidence and leadership. Our decision is to choose which we believe it sounds like to us. Let’s choose the latter and consider that when we excel, we are really displaying confidence and leadership and that we achieve those attributes by defining goals, writing them down, and practicing daily to perfect those attributes. This will provide us the necessary drive to become the state, quality, and condition of excelling. I often have wondered in my life why some choose to be mediocre and others choose to be excellent. This is a complex behavior and state of mind that goes beyond most simple theories of human behavior. As we grow physically and develop mentally, we encounter a multitude of examples: heroes, mentors, abusers, and controlling personalities. Because we are exposed to and experience different people who teach us negative and positive behaviors, because we react to those experiences differently, we become a product of those experiences and those people’s relationship with us.
We have the ability to change our behavior with effort and with the desire to excel. You can be Excellent and you can be viewed by others as having Excellency. Be strong, driven, conquering, in order to focus your efforts on your desired behavior goals. After all, you can be what you want to be if you follow the guide lines of these letters to the IMAGE DRIVEN. Your mind can conceive, believe in, and achieve what you truly desire and what you truly believe.
Next Chapter we will focus on the final letter N. Nobility, the image of the men and women who read, practice, and act so others will view them as Noble.
